A Legacy of Ash & Growth

As a SoCal native and going through the fires that swept through the area recently we learned that no matter what things were in place, in the end the counter effects can yield a positive result by bonding together and protecting that which we truly care about. Currently, America’s national parks are facing significant challenges but there’s many ways in that you can help protect and preserve them in this critical time.
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteering is one of the most impactful ways to help. Many parks rely on volunteers for trail maintenance, visitor education, wildlife monitoring, and cleanup projects. Visit Volunteer.gov to find opportunities near you and lend a helping hand.
Donate to Support Park Foundations
Financial support is crucial, especially during budget shortfalls. Consider donating to reputable organizations such as the National Park Foundation or the National Parks Conservation Association. Even small contributions can collectively make a significant impact on park preservation efforts.
Advocate for National Parks
Your voice matters. Contact your elected officials and advocate for increased funding and support for national parks. Additionally, raise awareness within your community and social circles about the challenges parks face, encouraging others to join in supporting conservation efforts.
Practice Responsible Tourism
When visiting parks, always follow “Leave No Trace” principles. Dispose of waste properly, respect wildlife, and stay on designated trails to protect fragile ecosystems. Visiting during off-peak times can also help reduce the stress and impact on popular parks.
Support Legislation Beneficial to Parks
Stay informed about local and federal legislation affecting national parks. Support policies that prioritize the protection and sustainable funding of public lands. Public engagement can influence positive legislative outcomes, ensuring parks receive the support they need.
Report Issues to Park Officials
Be vigilant during your visits. If you witness vandalism, safety hazards, or damage to park resources, promptly report these issues to park officials. Quick reporting can prevent further harm and assist in timely interventions.
Become a Member of Conservation Organizations
Joining conservation groups not only financially supports their advocacy and stewardship projects but also connects you with a community of like-minded individuals passionate about protecting national parks.
By taking these steps, each one of us can contribute meaningfully to preserving America’s national parks for current and future generations. Every effort counts, ensuring these natural treasures remain accessible, pristine, and cherished.
